The Tea Group was very excited to visit the Irish Embassy where we enjoyed a superb tour of the portraits by Sir John Lavery of the signatories of the 1921 Anglo-Irish Treaty in this centenary year.
Historians and non-historians alike really enjoyed immersing themselves in this era when the foundations of a new relationship between Britain and Ireland were laid. The visit ended with refreshments, and an opportunity to talk with the Ambassador and one of the Counsellors, who gave the girls a fascinating insight into diplomatic life.
Very many thanks are due to His Excellency the Ambassador and Counsellor Flood for their warm welcome and generous hospitality.
