Yesterday for speaker programme, we welcomed Anna Farina who works in humanitarian crisis response to talk to us about her career path and the work she does now.
It was fascinating to hear about how Anna made her way from working in finance, dealing with the aftermath of the financial crisis, to working in Syria, helping families rebuild their lives that were destroyed by conflict. Recently, Anna has done some incredible work as Crisis Anticipation and Risk Finance Operations Lead at Start Network, attending COP 27 in Egypt to talk about how the Climate Crisis is a Humanitarian crisis.
Anna told us all about what her job entails and how important it is to anticipate crises in order to minimise humanitarian damage done and money spent aiding people after a crisis. What Anna does helps people, while keeping their dignity intact along with their livelihoods. It was important for us to hear about this different line of financial work, showing us Sixth Formers how one day we will be able to use our education and privilege by working hard to help people in difficult situations around the world.
