Yesterday evening we welcomed Year 11 pupils from Francis Holland and other schools to join us for our Sixth Form Information Evening. For the girls, it was their first foray into discovering what is on offer once they have completed their GCSE studies.

The evening began with speeches from the Headmistress, Mrs Elphinstone, and the Director of Sixth Form who discussed the process of applying for Sixth Form and its place within the wider school. Following this, our Head Girl and another current Sixth Form student spoke eloquently of their time at FHS and the leadership opportunities they have enjoyed fulfilling. The final speeches came from three alumni each at different stages of their post-Sixth Form life. One spoke of her time currently at Oxford University while the final two showed how their experiences in Sixth Form had benefited their current careers.

Afterwards, everyone visited the many stands around the school, each one full of information on the A level courses available. There were also stands on extra-curricular activities on offer and the EPQ. It was a lively evening with students looking forward to choosing which subjects they will be exploring in the coming years.
