On Thursday 6th October, the Lower Sixth Academic Scholars hosted Francis Holland, Sloane Square’s very first Scholars’ Tea with the help of Mrs Wood, bringing together the Academic Scholars from Year 7 to the Upper Sixth. The girls got together to discuss inequality with a representative from the London Interdisciplinary School, the first new institution since the 1960s to hold full degree-awarding powers in the United Kingdom with programs following a problem-based learning model while studying complex problems through interdisciplinary teaching. It was a great opportunity for the younger girls to get involved in debates regarding societal problems and their contributions displayed maturity and insightfulness well beyond their years. The older girls also worked on setting up a mentoring scheme, aiming to encourage academic curiosity and rigour throughout the school. This event successfully commemorated the girls’ success and we look forward to hosting more of its kind in the future.
