Our Playground Takeover and Mufti Day was in aid of a charity called The Cycle. This charity builds eco-toilets and provides sustainable period products to girls and women in India who really need them. 1 in 5 girls in India don’t go to school because of their periods and lack of education about menstruation, so we thought this would be the perfect charity to raise money for, and we decided that everyone should wear red to support the cause. As well as the Mufti Day, we planned a Sixth Form-led Playground Takeover that had all sorts of stalls. From face painting to musical chairs, to karaoke and an amazing candy floss machine, and a bake sale. We managed to raise a total of £1,568.16! We are so grateful for everyone’s help and enthusiasm. Hopefully this money will go towards building a safe, clean, and equal environment for girls who really need it.
