As I entered the classroom, I was struck by a poetic aura. As the facilitator entered the room and told us who she was and what she wrote, everyone was fully absorbed into all her poetic stories and facts. The first task she set us was to write one sentence structured as: adjective, noun, verb, adjective, noun. As soon as we had written that sentence, everyone started taking turns switching the papers and writing a new sentence, eventually creating a poem. This activity showed us that anything can make a poem, and it would still be beautiful. Next, she told us to write a poem about our favourite place. She told us that although people often wrote sorrowful poems, it was just as easy to write a joyful and content one. In essence, the workshop was a marvellous experience. I learnt excessive amounts about how to write poems and how to give them meaning using structure and punctuation.
