Every year I try to set myself a sports challenge to keep me fit, healthy and focused. Two years ago, it was to complete my first triathlon, last year, to cycle all the way from London to Paris and this year I am going to test my running legs and have a go at the London Marathon 2023.

Even though, over the years, I have taken part in quite a few sports competitions both running and cycling, an attempt at completing the full marathon distance will be a first.

To make it even more meaningful, I will be running for The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund, a charity supporting young aspiring athletes in reaching their full potential.

Ron Pickering, in memory of whom the fund has been set up, was a PE teacher before he went on to train the British team for the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo and then to host the BBC ‘We are the Champions’ sports programme for children. He cheered on the young of his time and strongly believed that sport could enhance their lives in more ways than physical. Who wouldn’t agree with that?

Today, The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund, helps young talented athletes who otherwise would not be able to afford their full time training.

Follow the link to my fundraising page for more information, regular training updates and please do support, if you can, this worthy cause. All donations would be greatly appreciated and will help make dreams come true for new young rising sports stars.

I hope you enjoy the photographs from the races and training so far.
