The annual Modern Foreign Languages Poetry Competition held on Thursday 3rd July was a lively celebration of the many languages spoken by our students. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the Senior Hall where pupils from year 7 to year 12 took the stage to recite wonderful poems delivered in numerous languages such as Somalian, Farsi, Russian, Hawaiian and Flemish. The judge Ms Sala Bâ highlighted how assured the girls were: they spoke clearly and articulately and showed that depth and emotion can be conveyed beyond the understanding of language. The overall winner was Diane Rallon in Year 9 whose rendition of the French fable, le Corbeau et le Renard demonstrated confidence and flair and impressed both the audience and the judge.
