The annual Modern Foreign Languages Poetry Competition held on Thursday 3rd July was a lively celebration of the many languages spoken by our students. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the Senior Hall where pupils from year 7 to year 12 took the stage to recite wonderful poems delivered in numerous languages such as Somalian, Farsi, Russian, Hawaiian and Flemish. The judge Ms Sala BĆ¢ highlighted how assured the girls were: they spoke clearly and articulately and showed that depth and emotion can be conveyed beyond the understanding of language. The overall winner was Diane Rallon in Year 9 whose rendition of the French fable, le Corbeau et le Renard demonstrated confidence and flair and impressed both the audience and the judge.
