This week the FHS Lower School Bake Sale Competition returned with houses Ashcroft and Woolf stepping up to the mark to go head-to-head.

With representatives from each house at either ends of the playground, it wasn’t long before the cakes were displayed and queues of keen cake buyers began to form. Cupcakes, brownies and gingerbread proved popular as coins were exchanged for sugary treats. Mr Galloway was the competition’s MC and spent the majority of the bake sale interviewing pupils as they made their purchases.

Special offers and counter offers were being announced as trading time slipped away. As quickly as it had started, the stands were closed and Ashcroft and Woolf’s satisfied customers departed for afternoon lessons. This left the FHS Charity Counting Committee to double and triple check the totals.

Mr Galloway summarises:

Ashcroft raised: £179.20p
Woolf raised: £177.22p

Which means, Ashcroft were successful in raising the most money by ONLY £1.98p! TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLY CLOSE!

Congratulations to Ashcroft. It must feel like the icing on the cake.

And commiserations to Woolf. I’m afraid that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes…

All the proceeds from the Bake Sale will be donated to KLS, In Deep and Mvumi. The Franklin vs Fonteyn Bake Sale takes place on Monday 11th October.
