The annual Fanny Davies Music Competition took place last Monday, culminating in a show stopping concert of the winners’ performances this Wednesday at St Mary’s Church.
This year we had 105 entries showcasing a variety of talents on strings, woodwind, brass, harp and piano, as well as singing. This year’s competition was adjudicated by Helen Vickery, Head of Music, who was delighted with the marvellous demonstration of talent and willingness to work hard.
On Wednesday we had the pleasure of listening to this year’s winners: Emi (Year 1), Amelie (Year 2), Megumi (Year 3), Hepzibah (Year 4), Remi (Year 5) and Lita (Year 6), as well as a wonderful friendship duet from Arianna and Ruby Z in Year 5. Many congratulations to this year’s overall winner, Remi. The performances were an inspiring display of skill to everyone present, taking the audience through every emotion from poignant to joyful.
We hope that this inspires more of the girls to continue practising their music, taking lessons, or even to take up a new instrument.
Miss Houlder, Head of Junior Music
