This term, six girls who are mathematically and scientifically driven from Lower Sixth are involved in a Helium Balloon Launch to space. This opportunity involves sending a probe 30,000 metres above ground into the stratosphere where we will collect real-time images, data and conduct experiments. The launch requires us to use our problem-solving skills whilst mechanically building the probe and also using our geographical skills to identify the most successful launch path. The HAB (high altitude balloon) launch members are extremely grateful of the help from the Biscuit Decorating elective students, who created some impressive space-themed biscuits to help us promote our elective in the playground during lunch. Moreover, we are also extremely appreciative of the students from the Lower School who have sent us their designs as part of our logo competition. We have received some extraordinary designs! By the end of the term, we are hoping to finish our probe to prepare for the launch logistics next term.
