Over half term, our GCSE Spanish students explored the stunning scenery of Benalmadena in Spain, deepening their appreciation of Spanish culture and developing their linguistic repertoire. Activities included visiting the Alcazaba in Malaga, exploring the many cultural gems of Córdoba and taking part in a delicious and nutritious paella workshop. Here are what the girls had to say about this incredible trip:

“We had an incredible opportunity to immerse ourselves in the Spanish language and culture. Each day, we practised our Spanish skills by having conversations with the locals, putting our Spanish skills learned in school, to use in real-life situations and conversations. Some highlights from our trip included making paella ourselves from scratch, which was delicious and visiting the mosque in Cordoba.” – Lavinia, Year 11

The highlight of the trip for many of us was the flamenco show where we were able to witness an amazing performance with even more amazing dancers and even some refreshments which are always greatly appreciated! In the mornings we had lessons which were full of excitement ranging from learning new words to being able to practice our skills for the GCSE!” – Giudy, Year 11

The Spanish trip to Málaga was one I will remember forever, getting to visit the historical monuments such as the Mosque-Cathedral in Córdoba as well as walking in the picturesque gardens of the Alcazar. We also learnt a lot about the culture and back story of these sites during our visits from our amazing Spanish teachers of the Maravillas school.” – Mathilde, Year 11
