At the end of the Summer Term, Year 9 pupil Millie H presented an innovative social enterprise idea to our Headmistress.

The proposal was to make and sell hair scrunchies using unwanted FHS skirts, with profits being donated to the Mvumi Trust, our link school in Tanzania. Millie created a prototype and proposal to launch and sell the scrunchies as a recognised Lower School uniform accessory. Since gaining approval, Millie and her team of Year 9 girls have set themselves a target of 200 scrunchies to be made in Makery Club.

Millie reached out to Schoolblazer, who supply our school uniform. Having sent them her social enterprise project, Schoolblazer have fully backed Millie by donating £100 and providing the fabric which arrived last week just in time for the first Makery Club of the term.

We are so proud of MillieÂ’s entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help others and we will be following her initiative closely. Watch this space!
