Yesterday afternoon, we were pleased to welcome pupils and staff form our sister school, Francis Holland Regent’s Park, for the first leg of our annual Challenge Cup Netball Tournament.

Following somewhat monsoon-like weather in the morning, it was touch and go as to whether the tournament could go ahead… However, with characteristic grit, determination and resilience, both sides’ teams rallied and adapted their play brilliantly to deal with the difficult conditions.

No amount of drizzle could dampen spirits, and our spectators enjoyed closely contested U13, U14 and U15 matches with excellent play by both sides. We are delighted that Francis Holland Sloane Square were declared winners, but much more important than the result was the outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork shown by both sides. It was also lovely to see the girls enjoying spending time with their contemporaries at our sister school – a particularly wonderful moment being when the sun miraculously appeared around 3pm and our players enjoyed our delicious signature FHS red and blue cupcakes (thank you to our incredible Catering Team!).

Well done to all the fantastic players on both sides and a huge thank you to the PE Department. We look forward to Part 2 of the Cup, when our U12, U16 and U18 matches will take place, after Christmas.
