On Wednesday 20th January, we welcomed almost 600 applicants to our virtual 11+ Interview Day. Although we were not able to invite our applicants on-site this year, it was still a great occasion and we were delighted to meet so many talented girls.
Taking the time to interview every candidate is important to us and this year we wanted to give our candidates the same experience as previous years, in spite of the unique circumstances. We wanted to give every candidate the chance to show us their problem-solving skills as well as how they thought through a fun activity so this year we asked them to ‘create’ a three letter word using only marshmallows, penne pasta and spaghetti! There were some incredibly sticky results(!) and the best part was the chance to eat the marshmallows afterwards, as our Junior School Head Girl is enjoying doing so here!
A message for our Year 6 girls from Mrs Dixon
A huge congratulations to our Year 6 girls this week who have competed their 11+ journey. They have been busy with assessments and interviews. All our girls took part in the Francis Holland Senior School interviews in which they were asked questions about themselves as well as being given a creative task to complete. For this task, the girls were asked to have with them a bowl of marshmallows, some spaghetti and other pasta; from which they had to create a sculpture after solving an anagram. The girls reported back that the interviews had been ‘a really fun experience’ and felt they were able to show off their best qualities. Despite their 11+ being rather different this year, all of Year 6 have shown admirable determination and resilience. Well done!
Thank you to all of our candidates, we hope you enjoyed your day!
