It was a pleasure to welcome The Oratory Primary School, Francis Holland Prep and St Barnabas CE School to school on Monday to take part in three Creative Perspectives Workshops.
The students were welcomed by our Head, Mrs Haydon, and the Deputy Head of Francis Holland Prep, Mr Hart, who encouraged the Year 5 & 6s to think about Climate Change in relation to the art pieces on display at FHS including works by Sir Anthony Gormley, David Buckland and Clare Twomey. The students were then asked by Art Department to explore and respond to the shape and forms of different coccolithophores; organisms which play a vital role in the reduction of carbon in the world’s oceans.
Each student created a wonderfully creative clay piece inspired by the coccolithophores which will be exhibited as a collaborative installation piece at our Creative Perspectives on Climate Change exhibition, which will combine a diverse range of creative works by our pupils, visiting schools’ pupils and professional artists, at the end of the Summer Term.
Well done to all the students involved and a big thank you to all those who helped out during the workshops, especially the Sixth Form Ambassadors who supported the younger students with their creative decisions.
Ms Coleman, Joint Head of Art
