Over Half Term, our Classicists are in Rome taking a tour around the city’s fascinating cultural heritage. They departed London bound for Italy on Monday, first having a wander around the Eternal City and visiting the spectacular Arch of Constantine, a fantastic example of triumphal arch in front of which Dr Hayes delivered a short lecture on. On Tuesday, they visited the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Roman forum and the Ara Pacis museum. On Wednesday, they began the day with a morning trip to Emperor Hadrian’s villa near Tivoli before heading back to Rome to visit the Capitoline Museums. On Thursday, they began the day exploring the vast Baths of Caracalla complex, which was built between 212-217 AD.
