This term, we have appointed two new Career Prefects.

Anita and Jessica, who are both in the Sixth Form, will provide advice on choosing GCSE and A level subjects, as well as help promote careers events to students in younger years.

Both girls are very excited about their role. Jessica said, ‘I decided to apply for the job of becoming a careers prefect, because I would like to help younger years have a rough idea of what path they would like to take in terms of careers, and encourage them to believe in themselves and believe that they can pursue whichever career they want’.

Anita added, ‘I wished to be a careers prefect as I believed it would be the perfect opportunity for me to help fellow students to tackle the difficult choice of picking careers and subjects to study in higher education. I myself found it particularly difficult to decide what to study at A level and so I believe I can advertise the several careers talks we have lined up this year as I value the importance of them as they helped me decide. I also believe I can provide a good bridge between the students and teachers, in order to express their views on what they would like to be improved with careers events/information at FHS. I believe it is great that we have the role of the careers prefects at FHS as a fellow student would be more approachable and we can communicate with each other easier about these matters’.
