On Thursday, Year 7 and 8 had their Big Sister Summer Event in Battersea Park; the day was so much fun. Each House Family had a padlock, and attached onto the padlock were ‘stuck’ mini teddy bears in many different colours, and with each activity we were one step closer to cracking the code to the padlock to free the teddies!

It included tasks such as word searches, charades, guess the drawing and much more! We were given 3 sections of activities, and the first pack was more mind games and brain teasers like word searches and sudokus. The second pack was more focused on arts, drama and drawing, for example we all had to draw something and the people in your house family would try and guess what it was, and when you guessed right, you had to run up to the teachers and get the next word to draw!

The third pack I think challenged us all! It was the physical activities, for example 250 squats, or 10 laps of the area! But together as a team we managed, helping each other along!  We were all split into our House Families, for example I was in Franklin D and there are about 12 girls in each house family. We had to work together to try and problem solve each of these tricky tasks.

But it was all worth it because at the end we all got to keep a cute teddy bear! The whole aim with these Big Sister activities is to bring different year groups together. I think it’s such a great idea to try and mix year groups so you build bonds not just in your own year but all the way up the school. Big Sisters are such a great way to get to know FHS and all that it brings; you can ask your Big Sister for advice, guidance or just to have a chat. It’s really great having somebody that you know will always be up for a catch up! Big Sisters are a great way to connect the school and to help build the thriving FHS family that we have now!
