As part of the PSHE programme for Year 11 and the Sixth Form, Anna Whitehouse gave a panel interview about her Flexible Working Campaign, which has led her to the Equality and Human Rights Commission and to Downing Street.
Anna is multi-talented as a journalist, editor, mother of two and Instagram star. She has previously worked as the Vice Editor at Time Out Amsterdam before writing about shoes and handbags for fashion labels SuperTrash and Tommy Hilfiger. She now works as a writer at Shortlist Media, is a columnist for Marie Claire and co-hosts an evening show on Heart Radio. She is probably best known as ‘Mother Pukka’ with a following of over 180k on Instagram.
Interviewed wonderfully by Sara Sullivan and Zarah Drummond, Anna answered questioned summited by the girls themselves ranging from tips for successfully asking for flexible working, why it isn’t just a ‘mummy issue’ and how social media can be a force for change in the digital age. If Robert Lowes (Sir Ian McKellenÂ’s great-great-grandfather) could successfully campaign for the two-day weekend, then Anna argued that any individual with a passion can cause a positive change. An impressive talk to inspire the next generation of working women.
