Last Thursday, our excited Year 12 and 13 Spanish students had the chance to go on a trip to a tapas restaurant and to watch a production in the National Theatre! We started our evening with a delicious tapas meal by the river in Southbank at a Spanish restaurant called ‘La Gamba’, accompanied by our teachers (Profe Berni and Mr Confino)! After dinner, we walked down the road to the National Theatre where we attended the opening night of the production of ‘La Casa de Bernarda Alba’, by the acclaimed Spanish poet and author Federico García Lorca.

We are currently studying the play as part of our A Level, so seeing it come to life in the theatre was incredible! The play even included some famous actresses like Harriet Walter and the set was amazing, featuring Bernarda’s large house with several bedrooms for each one of her daughters.

We all thoroughly enjoyed this trip and speaking in Spanish outside of the classroom environment and would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Confino and Profe Berni for organising the trip.
