This week, our MFL Department hosted a fabulous Spanish Film Night for Year 8. Here’s what they had to say about the evening…

On Wednesday night after school, I got the amazing opportunity to watch Encanto with my friends in the Year 11 Common Room. We got offered lots of snacks and drinks such as popcorn, cookies and juice. We all snuggled together on the comfy sofas and began the movie. Since we are learning Spanish this year, our teacher added Spanish subtitles to the film, and I was surprised to understand most of them. It was a thrilling experience and I hope to do it again someday!

On Wednesday after school, the pupils who take Spanish in Year 8 watched the movie Encanto, which is set in Colombia and is about a magical house where each part of the family has a special power. We watched it with Spanish subtitles to widen our Spanish vocabulary and we also had tasty snacks consisting of popcorn, cookies and juice. It was a fun time to sing along with your friends and learn more Spanish!

The Encanto movie night was so much fun! On entering the room we were given some delicious cookies, popcorn and squash! Then we all settled down and started to decide where to even begin with the delicacies we were served! After that we all relaxed and began the movie; it was in English but the Spanish subtitles were on. You wouldn’t think it but I learnt lots of new words and it was really interesting to try test myself and figure out the word before they said it. The movie was great and it was such an enjoyable night. Thank  you so much Miss Johnston and Mr Confino for such a entertaining night!

I really enjoyed Encanto on Wednesday night! We watched the film, had snacks and relaxed after a long day. It was a great way to relax and chill but also learn new Spanish words and phrases, be with your friends and have lots of fun!
