PASTORAL &
WELLBEING

Senior

When you feel you belong and you matter, there are no limits to your dreams. Pastoral care is the cornerstone of everything here.

A SCHOOL WHERE EVERY GIRL IS KNOWN

Our national award-winning pastoral approach reflects a culture in which girls feel safe, confident and able to thrive socially and intellectually.

A strong sense of belonging underpins academic success and personal happiness; every girl here is valued and supported as an individual.

We are proud to be a mobile phone-free school for pupils in Years 7–11. This encourages face-to-face interaction, deeper focus in lessons and healthier relationships, allowing girls to be fully present and engaged. Thoughtfully designed communal spaces also provide a perfect sociable environment.

STRONG AND CONSISTENT SUPPORT

Every girl is surrounded by adults and peers who care about her experience.

Tutor groups meet twice daily for registration, enabling tutors to know your daughter well and closely monitor her academic progress, wellbeing and personal development. Each form has two tutors, ensuring continuity of care and a broad understanding of every pupil. Heads of Year oversee each year group’s welfare and work closely with tutors, parents and senior staff to provide guidance whenever needed.

Wellbeing lessons every Wednesday morning follow a carefully structured, age-appropriate programme covering PSHE and RSE. Delivered mainly by tutors in familiar form rooms, and supported by specialist staff and external speakers, these lessons encourage open discussion in a safe, inclusive environment.

Our Girls On Board curriculum develops emotional intelligence, equipping girls to navigate friendships and resolve conflict through empathy and kindness.

IN-HOUSE COUNSELLING AND ADVICE

We have a calm, welcoming pastoral space with sofas and hot chocolate: Cornerstone.

It is also home to the Senior Deputy Head Pastoral, Pastoral Care Lead, Chaplain and ContemPlace, our in-house six-person counselling team. Girls can drop-in any time for a chat or ask for 1:1 support which is discussed in partnership with parents where appropriate.

A much-loved member of ContemPlace is Kanga, our Hungarian Vizsla therapy dog, whose warmth and presence help girls feel at ease, particularly if hesitant to seek support.

Additional layers of care fostering connection across year groups include our House system, Daffodils programme, Year 7 & 8 Big Sister programme and Sixth Form Pastoral Ambassadors.
