CO-CURRICULAR
Our exceptional co-curricular programme is driven by passion and perseverance. There are a fantastic range of activities on offer, and staff and pupils are committed to leading and taking part in this thriving aspect of school life.
CLUBS
With more than 100 clubs and societies, there is truly something for everyone. The extensive range of clubs on offer, from Creative Writing to Cricket, from Pilates to Mindful Moments to Code Breakers, is constantly under review, with additional clubs often coming into fruition as a result of girls’ and teachers’ individual passions.
With annual productions in music and drama, finalists in national choir competitions, launching high-altitude balloons into space and an Elite Athlete Mentoring Programme; our thriving co-curricular programme really does cater for all. Our performing arts scene includes ballet, acting coaching and backstage leadership as well as choirs, orchestras and ensembles. Our inclusive sport programme encourages space for belonging, self-discovery and excellence through a diverse offering of more than 25 sports.
Our clubs are organised in a five-pronged structure called SPARK: Sport & Health, Religion & Philosophy, Arts & Creativity, Skills & Development and Knowledge & Innovation. Please see our current co-curricular booklet here. This is by no means prescriptive but gives an idea of the breadth of co-curricular options available.
TRIPS AND VISITS
Our trips and visits programme not only enriches our pupils’ subject knowledge but also encourages them to develop friendships and skills for life, including independence, leadership and teamwork.
With the world’s finest museums, galleries, parks, theatres and heritage sites on our doorstep, our varied programme of day trips allows us to take full advantage of our central London location, as well as holding a phenomenal range of daytrips around the UK.
We hold UK-based End of Year residential adventures for Years 7-9, followed by Morzine for Year 10, with activities taking place under canvas and on boats, bicycles and surfboards (and more!). Recent international trips have included a Tennis and Swimming Camp in Tenerife, a Surf & Yoga Trip to Fuerteventura, a Physics Trip to NASA and GCSE Geography Trip to Iceland. We offer multiple annual international trips for subjects including Spanish, Classics and Politics, and are looking forward to an Adventure & Sustainability Trip to Uganda in 2027.
Please follow us on Instagram and visit our News page to keep updated with the latest trips and visits.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH
The Duke of Edinburgh Award provides young people with an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development. Pupils can undertake one of three progressive levels which, when successfully completed, leads to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. At each level there are four sections; Volunteering, Learning a New Skill, Physical Recreation and Expeditions as well as a Residential Project in the Gold Award.
Here, every student in Year 9 is encouraged to complete the Bronze Award, and we take the whole year group on practice and assessed expeditions. Girls wishing to continue their journey are similarly supported through the Silver Award in Year 10.
As well as being a fantastic way to develop friendships and have fun, the Award allows pupils to develop many skills including problem-solving, communication, self-belief, self-discipline, team-building and responsibility. It is also a qualification that future employers value and respect.
ENTERPRISE AND ENTREPRENUERSHIP
At Francis Holland, entrepreneurship is understood as a mindset as much as an outcome. We empower girls to think creatively, identify opportunities, and turn ideas into purposeful action. Our award-winning approach, embedded across all year groups, combines academic learning, co-curricular experiences, and real-world problem-solving to develop initiative, resilience and confidence. Pupils engage in opportunities such as the £10 Challenge, borrowing £10 from the school to launch a small business and sell a product at our lively playground market within just four weeks, and Dragons’ Den–style events, refining their oracy and presentation skills. Through these experiences, girls learn to embrace challenge, adapt from setbacks, and create meaningful impact. This foundation in entrepreneurial thinking prepares pupils for further opportunities in the Sixth Form, including national competitions and ventures that extend their creativity, leadership and business skills.
