ACADEMIC LIFE

Senior

Our girls ask thoughtful and challenging questions because they are genuinely inspired, with learning driven by passion not pressure. What sparks your curiosity?

ACADEMIC LIFE

Girls thrive when they can feel seen, valued and supported.

Our deeply relational approach to teaching ensures that every girl is known individually, and is guided, encouraged and challenged by teachers in ways that foster confidence and resilience. Classrooms are safe spaces of curiosity and intellectual ambition, where pupils are encouraged to ask questions and learn from mistakes.

This combination of personal attention and high expectations allows pupils to engage deeply with a broad and rigorous curriculum, developing critical thinking, curiosity, creativity and the courage to explore their passions.

Our academic results are consistently outstanding yet learning is not just about examinations; it is about cultivating empathy, self-belief and independence, preparing each girl to flourish as a thoughtful, capable young woman.

CURRICULUM

Our broad and balanced curriculum supports every girl’s spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical development.

All subjects are taught by highly qualified, passionate specialists, ensuring pupils develop an intrinsic love for their disciplines. The curriculum includes carefully crafted opportunities to develop interdisciplinary skills in oracy, digital literacy and research. Pupils can also explore beyond the curriculum to complement classroom learning through our ‘Expanding Horizons’ initiatives.

All pupils study French, Spanish or German, with a bilingual French stream from Year 7, and debating taught in Year 8.

Wellbeing lessons are a core element of the timetable, covering health education, relationships and sex education, study skills, citizenship, environmental education and careers, while the Learning to Learn programme equips pupils with metacognitive strategies.

Full details of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum are in our curriculum booklets.

DIGITAL LEARNING

We equip girls to navigate the digital world confidently, creatively and responsibly.

Digital tools support excellence but never replace it. We set the highest expectations for teaching and learning; our approach to digital learning reflects this commitment. We use technology thoughtfully to enrich lessons, enhance assessment and create new ways for girls to engage with knowledge – always with the teacher at the centre.

Pupils learn to research effectively, reference correctly, think critically, uphold academic integrity and use AI ethically. This ensures they gain the digital fluency required for future study and work, underpinned by meaningful human connection and exceptional teaching.

All pupils study Computer Science from Years 7-9, with the subject available at GCSE and A Level, combining practical coding, problem-solving and computational thinking.

SEND

We support all girls in accessing our academic programme and thriving within it. We celebrate each pupil’s strengths and work collaboratively with pupils, parents and teachers to meet individual learning needs. Our Learning Strategies Department leads this work, ensuring a smooth transition for new pupils through early dialogue and sharing relevant information with staff, so that adaptive, quality-first teaching strategies can be applied.
