On the morning of Tuesday 24th February, Year 9 visited St. Paul’s Cathedral?.
As soon as we arrived, we were in awe of its extraordinary appearance. A greatly knowledgeable guide gave us a tour by showing us some of the wondrous features of the Cathedral; the beautiful stained glass windows and the elaborate ceiling decoration were the main attractions. We discussed various points concerning the religious history of the Cathedral, and how it was constructed. The answers that we came up with indicated just how significant the building of this magnificent attraction was, and how it has contributed to British culture. We were shown a short video depicting the elements; earth, wind, fire and water, which provided us with a different perspective of life in a religious context. We shared our views in how we interpreted these clips, and it was interesting to hear each other’s ideas. After our detailed tour, we were lucky enough to speak to a priest at the Cathedral, who encouraged us to ask many questions, and to have a think about his role at St. Paul’s. The priest provided thoughtful and intellectual responses to the questions that we asked and as a result, we learnt valuable information which we can now apply to our studies. ? The visit proved to be a tremendous success, with due thanks to the RS department.
Thank you
