We are delighted to announce that our library known as our Centre for Creative Learning has been awarded the Wellbeing Prize in the New London Architectural Awards 2020. This unique building, which was built in the space previously occupied by our underutilised courtyard, was central to our ambitious Building for the Future programme which we started in 2016 and completed in 2019 thanks to the support of our generous parents and alumni. The CCL serves as an inspirational space for daily learning and reflection, and its biodiverse rooftop garden provides a tranquil space for quiet contemplation and relaxation for girls of all ages. The external space includes a water feature, bug hotel, edible garden and a fundraising tree, donated by our old girls.
Wellbeing is at the heart of FHS and we are delighted that the award which looked for projects which find ‘ways to create spaces which make people feel better when they inhabit them’ reflects the emphasis we place on our pupils’ mental health. We hope you enjoy the following video which the NLA filmed here in October 2020. Thank you to the NLA for recognising the importance of creativity, innovation and enterprise.
