The FHS Swim squad travelled to the Queen Mother on Monday afternoon to take part in the Westminster championships. As we were current champions a lot was at stake and we wanted to retain our title.
The girls got off to a great start with both Sloane and Tiggy gaining second place for excellent swims in their 25m back stroke. Georgia and Ella went one better getting two gold medals in their races.
FHS saw success again in the 25m breaststroke races with three golds won by Gaia, Tiggy and Anastasia. Lola also had an excellent swim and gained a silver medal.
The girls continued to gain points in the butterfly and freestyle races. Susie and Isabella gained silver medals; with Maria, Sabrina and Sloane going on to win gold medals for their individual 25m races. Congratulations must go to Bella and Pippa who achieved bronze medals in their solo events.
At the end of the individual races the points were close between FHS and Grey coats. Francis Holland knew they had to work hard in the relays to secure double points and win the title.
The medley relays were first and boy did they not disappoint! The U12 team made up of Tiggy, Pippa, Isabella and Avalon came close but just missed out on first place in both relays. The U13 team made up of Ella, Sabrina, Lola and Sofia gained both a silver and gold in both relays. The U14 and U18 teams did the double and secured golds in both relays. An outstanding achievement!
The girls had all swim exceptionally and once the points were added up it was confirmed that FHS had scored the most points and won the competition. We were Westminster champions once more!!
Well done to all girls that swam in this gala – you were outstanding!
