On Friday 12th of May, the Upper Sixth marked the end of their time as students at FHS as they enjoyed their last day of school.

The leavers’ service at St Mary’s Church in the afternoon allowed the girls to say goodbye to the senior school, by way of a performance of ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd’ by the whole year as well as an outstanding rendition of ‘Hallelujah’ by Nour Mansour accompanied by Lara Breich. The service was touching and emotional, leaving barely a dry eye among the Sixth Form and parents.

The drinks reception that followed the service gave the parents an opportunity to say their goodbyes to the school and thank the teachers for the last time, many of whom have taught their daughters since Year 7. The day was rounded off with the Leavers’ Dinner. It was a wonderful evening, during which the Upper Sixth were able to say goodbye to the teachers who have played such a huge role in their school careers. It was made extra special by the presence of former teachers who returned to join in with the celebrations.

We all enjoyed a variety of performances from both students and teachers: a duet by Bonnie Collington and Lois Heslop; a ballet performance from Tessa Teo; and a rendition of Coldplay by the Staff Choir. A video from Mr Bartram and speeches from the Head Girls Team, Mrs Sawyer and Miss Adams reminded us of the many wonderful highlights we have enjoyed during our years spent here. The night ended with a group sing along, and a final dance for students and teachers alike.

The evening was the perfect way to say farewell to Francis Holland. On behalf of the Sixth Form, I would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who made the night a success, especially the Head Girls Team who put so much time and effort into organising the evening, and the catering team who never fail to prepare such amazing food.
