Last week, a group of Year 10 girls travelled to Richmond Theatre on a greatly anticipated trip to see a production of ‘Lord of the Flies’.

Immediately upon arrival, we were captivated by the mystical set that consisted of the cabin of a crashed aircraft and a dark, looming jungle. Our excitement mounted to the rise of the curtain and when the play began, we were at once engaged by the story as we watched the boys develop the characteristics of savages. The mood started off light and carefree, producing several laughs from the audience. As the play continued, however, this mood darkened as we watched this descent into savagery and Golding’s terrifying vision of the primitive aspects of humanity. Overall, we felt a rollercoaster of emotion during an evening that we shall certainly remember.
