On Thursday 20th June, 29 of Francis Holland’s finest actors from year 7, 8 and 9 performed in an extraordinary abridged production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.

Through Mr Rowlands-Roberts and Mrs Sanderson’s direction, this talented array of actors performed in a traverse theatrical staging where the audience felt immersed in the world of the play. Set in 1629, this production told the story of how an innocent man, John Proctor came to be accused of witchcraft by a collection of young girls, and gave his life in order to protect his integrity and his honour. It posed the question, ‘How far would you go to protect your integrity.’

One audience member described the event as follows:

I am still blown away by your performance last night, and am feeling rather in-adequate this morning – ha! I was speechless at the end of the show last night.I hope we can send many more girls to you next year also. You have an array of very talented young ladies, which is no coincidence. What an incredible department you run, the best Drama Department in London.
