Our annual Spring Concert rounded off a busy week of music-making at Francis Holland.
Some of the best performances from this week’s Fanny Davies Music Competition (please click here to see full results) were showcased in the first half of the concert. This included performances on the Harp, the Cello, singing and, impressively, several pieces composed by students Lois and Daisie.
We then listened to the Orchestra, which performed Bach’s Concerto for 2 Violins and Orchestra, 1st Movement Allegro with wonderful solos by Lois Heslop and Isabella Thompson, and the Lower Chamber Choir singing Rutter’s Gaelic Blessing. The Flute Group then gave a magical performance of a Harry Potter Medley, before the Senior Chamber Choir performed Folk Song, composed by student Beatrice.
To finish the evening, the Choirs of Francis Holland, which included students, staff and parents, sang a range of pieces: Beati Quorum Via by Charles Stanford; Poor Wayfaring Stranger, Traditional arranged by Paul Ayres; Gloria 1st Movement by John Rutter; and I Was Glad by Hubert Parry.
Very well done to all the girls (and parents!) who performed. A huge thanks to our wonderful Music department for putting together such a glorious evening.
