Last Friday Francis Holland went back in time to the roaring twenties and hosted a sleepover for FHS girls and students from our local primary school, St. Barnabas.

The annual event, which has been the talk of the school all term, began as soon as the girls opened the door to the school, instantly becoming immersed in the 1920s decor. Glitter, feathers and beautiful dresses were the order of the day! The students then excitedly entered the hall, to be greeted by a whole host of activities, including learning the Charleston, hat making, a gangster assault course (complete with criminal line up!), mocktails, and glittery face painting by ‘In Your Dreams’!

Each girl from both schools was able to take part in all these activities, and it was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to make new friends as well as an exciting chance for a sleepover at school! As the evening wound down, everyone contentedly settled down for a film, before bedding down for the night in the hall.

Mrs Townshend, Headmistress of St Barnabas School, said how much the girls has enjoyed the event: ‘I know that they will still be talking about it in months to come!’

Many thanks to the Junior School parents for funding the ‘In Your Dreams’ face painting, to our Sixth Form girls for helping throughout the evening and to our wonderful librarian Lucy Ivison for putting on such a fantastic event – the whole night was a jazz age ‘roaring’ success!
