Lower Sixth Geography Trip to Slapton Ley

08/05/2026

Our A Level NEA geography trip to Slapton, Devon provided such a valuable opportunity to put both our physical and human knowledge into practice. From collecting data and recording our observations, the time out in the field, specifically looking at coastal processes by walking along Beesands, made erosional and depositional theories much easier to understand.

Furthermore, we had the chance to walk around Totnes high street. Through our observations and interviews with locals, we were able to gain a better understanding of how unique the place is, and make links to our individual NEA topics. Our teachers have been incredibly supportive during the trip, making sure we understand data collection methods, which positively impacted everyone’s confidence.

Overall, this trip has been incredibly useful academically, and has allowed us to bond as a group. Spending time on the coast and in the town was such an enjoyable experience and something we will all remember from A Level geography.
