Lower School Play: Wellington 24

19/06/2026

On Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th June, the Senior Hall was transformed into a World War II factory for our spectacular Lower School Play – and it did not disappoint! Our Director, Miss Parkins, reports:

“Bringing Wellington 24 by Rachel Harper to life has been a truly rewarding and inspiring experience. Set against the backdrop of the Second World War, the play shines a light on the resilience, courage, and quiet determination of women on the home front. It explores not only the vital roles women played during a time of crisis, but also the enduring strength of female friendship in the face of uncertainty, responsibility, and change.

What has made this production particularly special is the extraordinary dedication and enthusiasm of our Year 7, 8 and 9 pupil cast. In such a short rehearsal period, they have embraced the emotional depth of the piece with maturity and sensitivity. The sense of ensemble has been at the heart of this process. Much like the friendships depicted within the play, our cast has supported one another throughout rehearsals, demonstrating kindness, resilience and teamwork both on and off the stage. It has been a joy to watch them grow in confidence, skill and compassion as young performers.

I would like to say a personal thank you to the cast, crew, staff and parents who have all contributed to bringing this beautiful play to life. It has been a privilege to work with such a talented and committed group of pupils. I hope that this story of strength, friendship and resilience not only honours the experiences of women during the Second World War but also resonates with you all.”

It certainly did! Congratulations to all our amazing actors – we are so proud of you all – and thank you to our wonderful Drama Department.
