On Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th February 2025, pupils in Years 7-13 performed in our annual school musical, Little Shop of Horrors, at Battersea Arts Centre.
Olive and Ella, our Year 11 marketeers for the show, review the experience below:
“Little Shop of Horrors is a musical centred around morals: don’t be too greedy, don’t bite off more than you can chew, and love those who love you unconditionally. The FHS musical is looked forward to all year and it has not disappointed this time. The musical’s protagonist is a young, awkward, meek boy named Seymour, who was played by Gigi in Year 13, and his man-eating plant, Audrey 2, who is named after the girl he is in love with. The story follows him and his murderous and hungry plant while they navigate newfound fame and their changing relationships. The musical delves into themes of love and abuse while the cast shine, dance and sings on stage. It has offers many opportunities for those in all year groups from puppeteers to the lead roles to the ensemble, there is something for everyone. Overall the musical was a huge success and the audience absolutely loved every second of it. We can’t wait for next year!” – Ella
“This year’s annual FHS musical has been carefully woven together, scene by scene, culminating in two spectacular performances, accompanied by dazzling stage lights and detailed costumes. The cast, built up of pupils in Years 7 to 13, gives talented actors and singers of all ages the opportunity to grow their passions under the flood of the limelights, while strengthening connections between different year groups. Outside of the whirlwind of dance and music, opportunities such as hair and make up artists and stage managers were open for application. One of the marketing managers says the part was a “great opportunity” as she wants to “pursue this as a career”, displaying the constructive effects of encouraging all roles within theatre.” – Olive
