Now, more than ever, it is vitally important to take care of our mental health. This week has been Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme for this year is nature. Research shows that there are lots of ways in which spending time in nature can be positive for our mental health and wellbeing; the benefits are often related to how our senses connect us to the environment around us, from the shapes in nature we see, to the scents that trees give off, and the soft fascination that nature can stimulate which helps our minds rest.
This week at FHS we have been thinking about ways in which we can connect with nature, and it has been wonderful to hear the girls chattering away about helping in the garden, drawing nature pictures, playing sport in the park, and even taking mindful moments to watch the clouds floating through the sky. We can find nature wherever we are, so this weekend may we, along with Year 1 (see posters!), encourage you to get out into nature, exercise in the great outdoors or combine nature with creativity and feel the benefits for yourself.
