This years theme for the Charity Flower Show was ‘Back to Basics’.

This required the girls to grow their own plants or vegetables from scratch and document it with pictures. They presented their projects in whatever way they wished but must have a way of documenting their wonderful efforts. The Junior Hall was abundantly green with radishes, herbs, beans, lettuce, sweet peas, nasturtiums, poppies and marigolds amongst others. The girls thoughtfully documented the growth of their plants with photographs, journals and artwork. Many have become keen gardeners, taking their green fingers beyond the competition! All proceeds go to the Chelsea Pensioners, IP Cole and IP Murdoch further brightened our opening day with their bright red tunics.
We also displayed our new junior school planters which have been kindly donated, along with the soil and plants themselves, by the Friends of Francis Holland. There is one for each year group to care for and have been lovingly planted by the children. Some of us have been lucky enough to try some strawberries from our crop, the girls tell me they were delicious!
