The Upper VI History of Art class went to see the Michelangelo and Sebastiano del Piombo exhibition at the National Gallery last Monday.
The show explores the artistic relationship between the towering genius of the sixteenth century and his lesser known contemporary with works from the gallery’s collection and many from abroad. Obviously Michelangelo’s major works in frescoes and marble cannot be moved so the full impact of his achievements can only be understood by visiting Rome and Florence. This we must surely do!
