Since leaving Year 3, and joining Year 6, Lightning has enjoyed his many adventures. He loves his home on the top floor but has also spent some time staying at my house and Anastasia’s house and as you can see, he has blossomed!

Here I wanted to give you a little update of how he is getting on.

His hobbies include: sleeping, eating and being petted.

Sleeping: Lightning sleeps for almost 20 hours a day in his shed. In there he digs a hole to keep himself warm.

Eating: Lightning enjoys lettuce, watercress, rocket and his tortoise pellets. His favourite treats are: strawberries, raspberries and tiny grapes. He dislikes: blueberries, spinach and celery.

Being petted: Lightning loves to be gently stroked and tickled.

Since arriving at Francis Holland Lightning has doubled in size! His measurements are: 15cm long by 8cm wide, he is 6.5cm tall.

When he isn’t sleeping or eating, Lightning does laps around his enclosure or sunbathes under his lamp. Every Friday he takes a 30 minute bath to get nice and clean. I use cotton pads to gently scrub the dirt off his cheeks, neck and legs.

Lightning is also a ‘snack saver’! Once he has eaten a bit of his food, he keeps the lettuce crumbs and buries them in his bedding. Later in the day, he comes back to dig it up and munch them as quickly as he can.
