On Friday 5th February Francis Holland turned into Hogwarts for the night. Year 6s and 7s arrived and the sorting hat worked its magic, deciding whether they belonged in Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin.

Each house was led amazingly by members of the Sixth Form who really got the party atmosphere going. Throughout the evening the girls played Quidditch (in their stupendously professional bibs kindly donated by the Friends committee), hunted for horcruxes in a giant ball pool, had a visit from eight real and extremely magical owls, competed head to head in a Harry Potter quiz and got their pictures taken by the super talented Renata Cutrale in the Harry Potter photo booth.

After that there was even time for a costume parade, a flash disco and a screening of The Goblet of Fire. PHEW! Then it was time to snuggle down into our sleeping bags and have a good gossip until we all fell asleep (well some of us) in the great hall.

Every single member of staff got into the spirit of the evening with staff costumes including Miss Arlington as the Golden Snitch, Miss Graham as The Goblet of Fire and Mr Stone as no other than Harry Potter himself.

The evening would not have been possible without the commitment of the huge number of staff that gave their time and energy and the Sixth Form girls who led their respective houses. Miss Ivison is enormously grateful to all involved.
