On Friday 26th February, the Year 10 girls were fortunate to attend several science lectures at the Apollo Theatre as part of GCSE Science Live.
Several eminent and inspirational scientists including Robert Winston and Jim Al-Khalili gave talks on their area of specialisation. They took on the arguably difficult task of engaging a room full of teenagers – with much success. The audience was captivated by talks ranging from new IVF treatments, trilobites and rethinking chemical equations. Of particular interest was a talk by Dr Al-Khalili who argued that time travel is theoretically possible.
The lecture on how to take exams was highly practical, and hints on how to get a great mark on IGSCE Science papers was noted carefully by all.
The day was a fantastic opportunity to both improve our exam technique and nurture our love for Science.
