Along with the plethora of English, Irish and American Poems of the Day this term, we’ve had ancient Greek and Latin ones; we’ve had French and Spanish ones, and Indian and aboriginal Australian too. Quite the melting pot.
But wait. “Where are the Germans?” I hear you cry. “Where, in heaven’s name, is Johann Wolfgang von Goethe?”
Relax, everyone. Goethe – the greatest of all German poets! – has joined the party. And, even better, his seasonal poem – Sommer – is translated and discussed by two Year 8 girls, Inga de Vegvar and Linnea Foelster: the first students to contribute to Poem of the Day. Thank you, girls!
Inga and Linnea produced this in Decoding Languages Club with Ms Johnston.
