On Monday 6th February, family and friends of our Sixth Form gathered to listen to EPQ presentations.
For the first time, we had so many students taking the qualification that we had to split between two rooms to give everyone a chance to present! We are very proud of all our girls taking this qualification, which requires dedicated academic rigour.
The EPQ provides the students with the freedom to focus on a topic which most interests and inspires them, and therefore the presentations given were on a wide variety of topics. They covered the use of rhinoplasty in Ancient India; a discussion of the musical Hamilton; the pharaoh Akhenaten; the journey involved in writing, recording and producing a jazz EP; women in Imperial Rome; the possibility of monetary compensation for organ donation; religious gestures in Dostoyevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov and even a performance of an oratorio especially composed for the qualification.
Each girl did wonderfully and presented her ideals in a clear and engaging way. At the end of each presentation, questions flooded in from the audience, all of which were handled by the presenter calmly and with panache.
Very well done to all of our EPQ students.
