On Sunday 6th October, Emily and I had the privilege of attending a debate tournament at Dulwich College, where we were joined by participants from a wide range of schools from Year 9 to Year 13. The event followed the British Parliamentary style of debating, which presented an exciting challenge as we had to think quickly and construct persuasive arguments within a limited time. Throughout the day, we had the chance to listen to impressive speeches from various leading schools, which helped us grow significantly as debaters. The atmosphere was welcoming, with all the students being incredibly friendly, making it easy for us to connect and have fun.
Although we didn’t make it to the finals, we had the opportunity to watch the gold final, where the debaters showcased exceptional fluency, strategic thinking, and eloquence. We left with greatly improved debating skills and are deeply grateful for the valuable experience we gained! Thank you Dulwich College for a great day.
