Teacher of Biology, Environment Co-ordinator, and School Archivist, Mr Bartram, set pupils a ‘Germination Challenge’ over the Easter holiday. Pupils have been invited to send in photos of their germinating plants, and we’re delighted to share some of these with you.

Thank you to Léonie for sending in this photo of a wildflower honeybee plant sprouting and to Deniz for sharing a photo of the beans she is growing in cotton.

Carlotta also sent in a photo of growing an avocado for gardening club. First of all, Carlotta washed the avocado seed and peeled off the brown layer of skin from the stone. After adding four cocktail sticks to the top of the avocado, Carlotta hopes that the roots will begin to grow in two to four weeks.
