On Wednesday 1st March, we celebrated the 136th School Birthday – and what a celebration it was!
We started the day, as always, with a riot of colour, as the girls flooded into the Church adorned with hundreds of daffodils for the birthday service. Father Kenny led the service and we gave thanks for our many blessings and prayed for those in need. The girls then hurried back over to the school to get the best position in the playground ready for the eagerly awaited staff versus students netball match. A wonderful performance was put in by all involved, and competition was fierce as the girls tried to win back the title following last year’s staff victory. Ultimately, it was the students who emerged victorious, though no doubt the staff will come back in full force to challenge this next year!
The Junior School then headed into the junior hall, to take part in their surprise entertainment, which turned out to be a fast-paced dance class! Meanwhile, the Senior School were in the hall, being treated to a show from magician Maximilian Somerset, who managed to produce a goldfish from thin air, turn normal playing cards blank, pull a chicken from behind his back and amaze the whole audience with his magic!
Overall, it was a fantastic morning, and a perfect way to celebrate the birthday of our beloved school.
Happy Birthday, Francis Holland!
