OUTREACH, CHARITY
& PARTNERSHIPS
Central to our mission as a school is the development of compassionate and community-minded young women. Our aim is for every pupil to be involved in outreach activities in every year of their time at the school.
A CULTURE OF SERVICE AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Our aim is to cultivate a lifelong appreciation of the transformative impact of charitable fundraising, volunteering and community action in every student.
We are proud of our longstanding tradition of supporting a wide range of charitable organisations through sustainable, high-impact fundraising. By building deep, mutually supportive partnerships over many years, we provide stability for our partner charities while offering meaningful opportunities for pupil involvement.
Charitable engagement enriches our educational provision: nurturing empathy and self-esteem, strengthening belonging and fostering global citizenship. Research consistently highlights the significant mental health benefits of service, with volunteering shown to strengthen wellbeing, purpose and connection. We see this reflected in our own community. Students develop essential life skills such as resilience, creativity and collaboration, all while discovering that generosity and joy go hand in hand. After all, we firmly believe you cannot spell fundraising without FUN.
LONGSTANDING PARTNERSHIPS, MEANINGFUL IMPACT
We are committed to building sustainable relationships of trust with our charitable partners. Our enduring partnerships with organisations such as Katherine Low Settlement and In-Deep span decades, in the case of Katherine Low Settlement, over a century. We also proudly support four students at Mvumi School in Tanzania, for whom we raised over £43,000 in our Clean Hands, Pure Hearts campaign in 2021, and work closely with Hammersmith & Fulham Foodbank, where we are one of the largest non-supermarket donors.
These sustained partnerships provide charities with reliable fundraising and dedicated volunteers. In return, our pupils gain access to bespoke educational experiences, from donation sorting visits to collaborative community projects.
By investing long-term rather than one-off support, we deepen our understanding of the needs of each charity and their service users. This approach ensures our fundraising is both impactful and responsive, creating benefits for our partners and transformative learning opportunities for our pupils.
PUPIL-LED OUTREACH AND VOLUNTEERING
All charity initiatives are pupil-led, encouraging enterprise, independence and collaboration. From bake sales to comedy nights, pupils organise creative fundraising events for local and international causes, as well as rapid-response campaigns during global crises.
Every Sixth Form student volunteers, whether supporting homework clubs and music therapy sessions, taking part in intergenerational activities at Eden Court Retirement Village, or contributing to co-curricular programmes at St Barnabas C of E Primary School and St Matthew’s Primary School. Outreach visits throughout the year, including foodbank warehouse donation sorting and seasonal community projects, further strengthen these connections.
Through these experiences, girls develop a practical understanding of the vital role charities play in society. Most importantly, they grow in compassion, confidence and conviction, recognising their responsibility to make a meaningful difference in the world around them.
