Every student has 35 minutes of PSHE a week, delivered by a combination of external speakers and our own staff. Our programme is adapted from the Government non-statutory guidelines Every Child Matters, an approach to the well-being of children and young people from birth to age 19.

It has 5 outcome areas: Being Healthy, Staying Safe, Making a Positive Contribution, Economic Well-being, Enjoying and Achieving. The programme for each Year group deals with all 5 outcome areas at a level relevant to the students' needs. For example, Year 7 begins with issues relating to safety, organisation, courtesy, self-esteem and relationships with others.

We deliver the programme through discussion, through talks, and through role-play and individual reflection. At the end of each term students evaluate what they have learnt, and are invited to make fresh suggestions about what they would like to see in the programme.
