Greek club is currently offered to girls in Year 9 and is run by Ms Lambert. It takes place in Room 8 (the Classics room) on Thursday lunchtimes. It is designed to offer participants a flavour of both the language and culture of the Ancient World through a variety of activities. However, the linguistic element takes up the majority of the course, enabling our most able students to experience the challenge of a different alphabet, and to develop an awareness of the links between modern languages and Greek. This will expand their English vocabulary, and will give them an insight into the origins of many terms we use in everyday life, as well as in science, medicine and technology. In this way, Greek has a valuable role in the school's Gifted and Talented programme.
